Investing in our community!
January 1, 2011
Dear Friends,
The fund-raising campaign for the future Brownton Area Civic Center is now under way. The goal of the campaign is to reach $400,000 in pledges from private citizens, businesses and area organizations to achieve our goal of renovating the former Brownton school building into a city facility that can be used by citizens of all ages.
This letter is a formal request offering you the opportunity to participate in the future Brownton Area Civic Center project by making a financial pledge at this time. Your pledge can be spread over three years (2011, 2012 and 2013), and could be in any amount. However, public recognition of amounts totaling $600 or more will be prominently displayed inside the renovated building. A pledge card and return envelope are available for download at the right of this page. Please note that donations are tax deductible on itemized tax returns.
The fund-raising campaign ends June 30, 2011. The city intends to begin work this winter with proceeds from an $850,000 general obligation bond recently passed by city of Brownton voters. That work will include the demolition of the center section of the school, roof replacement and repairs, new windows and doors, a new heating system, and upgrades for fire protection.
The fund-raising committee hopes to raise $400,000 to construct a new entry and make other improvements with the goals of relocating the library and city offices to the building and improving the gymnasium and auditorium areas for community use.
The building served the community well as an educational facility. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to recondition and reuse this building as public space for Brownton and its surrounding area. Please send your pledge promptly so we can continue to make plans for this worthwhile community project. Please call one of the co-chairs if you need more information about this project.
Sincerely,
Russ Victorian and Norm Gehrke
